Get Healthy: 21 Day Vegan Challenge

I love doing cleanses/challenges/diets, whatever you want to call it. Don’t get me wrong, I love to eat, but I think the years of competitive athletics has ingrained in me this need to goal set and compete, in a way. While I generally eat pretty healthy, I give myself free reign during the holidays/special events to eat however much I want of whatever I want. Sometimes I go a bit overboard (or all the time…) and start to feel a little foggy, grumpy, and puffy. Despite knowing my system does not do well with sugar and dairy, I can’t seem to help myself.

This year, the combination of holiday gluttony mixed with high levels of stress in both my personal and professional life has made getting back to healthy living a necessity. For me personally, I feel my best when I’m eating a plant-based diet full of whole, unprocessed foods. So you know what that means. It’s time for Kris Carr’s 21-Day Adventure Cleanse!

This plan basically entails:

  • Eat vegan and gluten-free
  • Have a green smoothie or juice for breakfast every morning
  • Emphasize green veggies
  • Move for 30min every day
  • Meditate every day (very important for mental health!)

I’ve never made it through all 21 days – but this time I’m determined! I always feel so good when I eat this way and I’m excited to see how I’ll feel at the end of three weeks. I’m not going to bore you with an everyday nity-gritty update, but I definitely plan on sharing my progress and favorite recipes in case you want to try it too!
